Description:
The objective of this book is to introduce the autopsy practices. An autopsy also was known as a post-mortem examination, obduction, necropsy, or autopsia cadaverum is a highly specialized surgical procedure that consists of a thorough examination of a corpse by dissection to determine the cause and manner of death and to evaluate any disease or injury that may be present. The traditionally recognized contributions of the autopsy such as its role in defining new disease entities, in the quality control of patient care and in determining the cause of death, are just as relevant today as in the past. Autopsy Practices is a contribution by several pathologists from Mumbai and Chandigarh, and each author has performed and/or observed several thousand clinical autopsies. This book consists of 11 chapters. It includes introduction and history of biopsy, external examination at autopsy, utility and techniques of the autopsy, systemic examination, autopsies in special situations, the design of autopsy room, autopsy biosafety, autopsy audit and embalming. All the topics are written in conventional pattern and each topic is designed to offer practical guidelines that will lead pathologists to identify interpret and correlate the autopsy findings.
